Headlight repair — bright, both, and aimed where the road is

At Kallukatti, Kaliyakkavilai — on the NH-47 (now NH-66), near the Nayara petrol pump — and at our Pudukadai branch. Open from 8 AM, every day.

after-hours emergency line — call any time: 094872 34923

Also called: headlight, head lamp, light not working. A headlight fault is a night-driving countdown on a highway with no second chances — it queues ahead of comfort work here.

When you need this

Headlight attention is due when: one side has gone dark — or both; low beam died and only high beam survives, or the reverse; the light is there but brown-dim behind a fogged lens; the beam points at the trees or the tarmac; or a new bulb died within weeks, again.

Lights failed with night driving still ahead? Call 094872 34923 — do not push on dark on the NH-66; most single-lamp faults are quick work once the vehicle is here. Emergency help →

A headlight circuit is a chain — switch stalk, relay, fuse, connector, earth, bulb — and every link fails in its own accent. One lamp dark with the other fine is usually bulb, connector or that lamp's earth. Both dark on one beam is the relay or the switch. Dim is rarely the bulb at all: it is voltage lost along the way through corroded joints, or a lens gone cloudy with age doing its dimming optically.

We repair the actual link: bulbs and holders, melted connectors — a local specialty, since heat and salt air conspire against them — relays, stalk switches, hinge wiring and earths. Then the part most shops skip: the beam is aimed properly, because a repaired lamp pointed into oncoming eyes or six feet of tarmac has not been repaired at all.

Cars, autos, lorries, buses, tractors and machines — night work is half this district's driving, and the lamp bench treats it that way.

What it costs

Headlamp repair or replacement, per fault ₹200 – ₹600 plus the lamp where one is needed

Bulb-and-connector work sits at the bottom of the band; wiring and switch repairs higher — with the beam aim included in the job, not sold separately.

Headlights — what you should know

Bulbs dying young is a voltage complaint

A bulb a month is not bad luck — it is vibration, a loose holder, or charging voltage running high and cooking filaments across the vehicle.

When more than one lamp burns young, the charging system answers first: regulator and rectifier repair →.

Dim is different from dead

One dim lamp is that lamp's supply or earth; everything dim together is a system story — and a different page.

The whole-vehicle version lives at lights dim or flickering →.

High beam only — the relay's confession

Losing one beam across both lamps while the other beam survives points squarely at the relay or the stalk switch, not the bulbs. It is among the quickest repairs on this page — and among the most dangerous to postpone, since flashing oncoming traffic all night wins no friends.

Fogged lenses dim honestly bright bulbs

Years of sun turn polycarbonate lenses yellow-blind, and no bulb shines through cataracts. Lens restoration or replacement is part of lamp work here — often the whole cure for "weak lights" on an older car.

Headlights — common questions

What does headlight repair cost?

₹200 – ₹600 for the fault itself, plus the lamp if one is genuinely needed — the chain test tells us which link failed before anything is bought.

One light out — can I keep driving meanwhile?

Legally and practically you are a motorcycle to oncoming traffic at night, and the surviving lamp is carrying double duty. Treat it as a this-week job, and avoid night highway runs until then.

Do you aim the lights after repair?

Every time — aim is part of the repair. It is also available alone if your lights work but point wrong after a lamp change or bodywork elsewhere.

Thinking of brighter lights while you are in there?

Upgrades done properly — with relays and wiring sized for the load, and aim that respects oncoming eyes — are their own service: LED and auxiliary light fitting →.
