after-hours emergency line — call any time: 094872 34923

Also called: battery change, battery down, battery dead, new cell. Whatever you call it, it is the same job — and it is usually done while you wait.

When you need this

You probably need a battery when: the engine will not crank, or cranks slowly; you hear rapid clicking when you turn the key; the lights are dim; the vehicle is dead after standing a few days; or the battery is past its third year and starting has become a morning gamble.

Battery down on the road right now? Call 094872 34923 — we do doorstep battery replacement across the Kaliyakkavilai–Marthandam–Pammam belt. More on emergency help →

A battery here does not fail the way the manuals say it should. Coastal heat, short trips, salt air on the terminals and vehicles left standing between seasons kill batteries in this belt in three to five years — often without much warning.

We have been replacing them for 28 years, from the same spot on the highway at Kallukatti. The routine is simple and it protects you from buying a battery you do not need: we test first, free, before we sell anything. If the battery is genuinely finished, we fit the right size from stock — twelve brands, including Amaron and Exide — register it to the vehicle where the vehicle needs that, and take the old battery off your hands against the price of the new one. Most replacements are done the same day, usually while you wait.

If the test says the battery is healthy, we tell you that too, and we look at the charging system instead. A new battery fitted over a failing alternator is flat again within the week — you would be back, and angrier.

The test is free. Really.

Bring the vehicle, or just the battery. We put it on the tester and tell you what it actually holds — takes a few minutes. If it is fine, you leave knowing that, and it costs you nothing. Around a third of "dead battery" visits turn out to be something else, and finding that out free is better than finding it out ₹4,000 later.

Battery replacement — what you should know

Why batteries only last 3–5 years in this belt

Four local reasons, and every one of them is worse here than the all-India average. Heat cooks the plates. Short trips — Kaliyakkavilai to Marthandam and back — never fully recharge the battery. Salt air off the coast corrodes terminals and eats connections. And vehicles left standing through a season sulfate quietly until they will not crank.

If your battery keeps going flat rather than being simply old, that is a different problem — and replacing the battery will not fix it.

BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Volvo? The new battery must be registered

Most premium European cars from around 2010 will not manage a new battery correctly until it is registered to the car's battery-management system with a diagnostic tool. Skip that step and the car keeps charging the new battery like the old one — shortening its life and sometimes throwing warnings. We have the registration tool, and we do this as part of the fitting on cars that need it.

Sometimes it is only the terminal

Green-white corrosion on a terminal, a clamp that will not tighten, a tray rusted through — any of these can strand a healthy battery. Cleaning, coating, new clamps or a tray repair runs ₹100 – ₹350, and we will not sell you a battery to fix a ₹150 terminal.

Drained is not dead

Lights left on overnight? A battery that is merely drained can usually be recharged — ₹150 – ₹300, ready the same day — rather than replaced. The test tells us which it is before you spend anything.
