Central locking repair — every door answering, every time

At Kallukatti, Kaliyakkavilai — on the NH-47 (now NH-66), near the Nayara petrol pump — and at our Pudukadai branch. Open from 8 AM, every day.

after-hours emergency line — call any time: 094872 34923

Also called: central lock, door lock motor, actuator. Inside each door sits a small motor called an actuator; central locking is four or five of them agreeing to obey one command. Repair is about finding which stopped agreeing — and why.

When you need this

Central locking earns a visit when: one door has stopped joining the others — clunking softly or not at all; the remote locks nothing while the key still turns; doors lock and then unlock themselves again; the boot has resigned separately; or the whole system has gone silent.

Car refusing to lock, and you have to leave it? Call 094872 34923 — a car that cannot lock is not a tomorrow problem, and most single-fault cases are same-day repairs. Emergency help →

Central locking fails politely at first — one rear door needing its button pressed by hand, a boot that opens when it feels respected — and then one evening the driver's door joins the strike and the car cannot be secured at all. The fault is nearly always one of three layers: a door's actuator worn out, the wiring loom that flexes inside the door hinge broken a strand at a time, or the command side — remote, receiver or control module — no longer being heard.

The layers cost differently, so we prove before we replace: actuators are tested at the door, hinge looms are opened and inspected where the flexing happens, and command faults are separated from door faults in minutes. One weak actuator does not condemn the set, and a broken hinge wire needs a repair, not a new module.

Where locking is remote-side rather than door-side, the cure often lives one bench over — a remote the car has forgotten is programming work, and we do that here too.

What it costs

Central locking or actuator repair, per fault found ₹350 – ₹1,200

A single actuator or hinge-wire repair sits low in the band; command-side and multi-door work higher. The layer is named before the price is.

Central locking — what you should know

One door on strike is the classic opener

A lone door that stopped obeying is almost always its own actuator or the wiring in its hinge boot — a contained, same-day repair. Left alone, it is also how the strike spreads: the system strains against the stuck door every cycle.

Locks, then unlocks itself again

That bounce-back usually means one door's actuator is jamming mid-travel and the system is retrying — the misbehaving door is identifiable by ear and by test, and curing it settles the whole car.

Remote dead but the key works

Then the doors may be innocent — a tired remote battery, a remote the car has forgotten, or a receiver fault.

Remote and fob work is its own bench: key and remote programming →.

Everything dead at once

Whole-system silence points upstream — fuse, relay or supply — before any door is blamed.

That check is quick and cheap: fuse, relay and earthing repair →.

Central locking — common questions

What does central locking repair cost?

₹350 – ₹1,200 — a single door's actuator or wiring at the low end, command-side work higher. The diagnosis names the layer first.

Can you fix just the one door?

Yes — and that is usually the right repair. We test the rest of the set while the panel is off, so you know honestly whether the others are healthy or queueing.

My boot release stopped working with the remote.

Boot actuators fail like door actuators, and boot wiring flexes like hinge wiring. Same diagnosis, same visit — often the same small price band.

Aftermarket central locking on an older car or pickup?

Fitted properly, yes — actuators in all doors, correct relays and fusing, wired to survive. It is accessory work done the way accessories should be: on their own protected feeds.
